We are already two weeks into July? Julying!!

Okay, fine, that was bad!

Well, while the pun was bad, Summer in Bloor West Village, on the other hand, has been nothing but amazing! We kicked off the season with a bang with our first event of the Summer. On June 23, the Bloor West Village Community came together to “Get Movin’ N’ Groovin'”. An unforgettable day of a FUN activities, including fitness classes, fam-jams and a Hula Hoop dance party, Jack of Sport’s bike obstacle course, kids crafts, special guest CHASE from PAW Patrol, test ride Zygg E-bikes, a vendor expo, and more – attendees enjoyed a day of hands-on fun, sharing, creating memories, and taking part in a variety of enjoyable activities! 

 

 

Well, the party’s not over yet! As we continue to make the most of the vibrant season of Summer, let’s explore what the village has to offer! Looking for some fun this month? That’s our specialty! There’s never a dull moment from the charming streets of our village, so read on for some inspiration on how to have the best Summer right here, in Bloor West Village. 1. Day Trips in Bloor West Village – Foodie Edition

 

Quick question for you. When was the last time you spent a whole day in Bloor West Village? Or even, have you ever spent a whole day in the village? Whether you’re looking for a fun day idea for you and your friend(s), or a cute date day plan with your lover, or even a solo day, a day trip in Bloor West Village is the perfect plan. And what better time to do so than July, making the most of the Summer season! Start off the day with a yummy brunch at one of our many food spots and catch up over mimosas and pancakes. Next, continue the day with a chill stroll around the village or a quick bike ride enjoying a Bike Share Toronto bike. Enjoy a late lunch on a pretty patio or skip straight to a coffee break at a coffee shop. Grab some snacks and move your date to a park, continue your catch up sesh or enjoy some quiet time reading a book while also enjoying the sunset time. Why not snap a few photos too? Finally, end the day with a delicious dinner at one of our restaurants! How does that sound?

An opportunity to either go back to your fav spots in the village or discover new places or features (E.g. Did you know you can now get brunch at GATTO Wood Oven Pizza? Or did you know Snappers Fish Market does barbecues from 12PM to 5PM on weekends?), a day trip is a fun way to explore the many things the village offers. 2. Bloor West Village at Night!

 

Can’t make it for a day trip? Why not enjoy what the village offers at night! Unwind after a long day at work at one of the various restaurants or resto-pubs. Whether it’s wings and a beer, or dinner and a beverage, treat yourself to a nice meal to end the day, and of course, throw in a sweet treat too! (Come on, there’s always room for it!). So, what are we having? A yummy rich pasta dish? Or a warm bowl of ramen? Or the classic burger and fries? Bloor West Village has the variety to satisfy your taste buds.

And guess what! Nights in the village just got more fun! Indeed, if you are a fan of live entertainment such as Jazz nights, or Trivia nights, various restaurants offer such activities in Bloor West Village. For instance, this month, Fox & John’s has live music starting at 9PM on July 19th and July 26th. Halcyon Cafe also has jazz nights from 6PM to 8 PM. Shakey’s has an upcoming open mic and jam night on July 3oth, with sign-ups starting at 7PM. These are only a few of many such activities happening in the village – activities that bring the phrase “the night is still young” to life.

 

3. Your New Hobby Central!

Starting July 29th, children and teens aged 11-17 will get a chance to make a murder mystery film, inspired by the board game “Clue”. Cool, right? Here’s another one for you! Are you interested in learning Hip-Hop, from old school moves to the latest trends? The Toronto Barre Collective (BCTO) has got you covered! On Monday, July 15th, July 22nd, and July 29th, join owner of BCTO, Shelley-Anne Castro, for 3 wicked Hip-Hop dance classes, from 6PM to 7:30PM.

Summer just got more fun! With over 400 businesses in Bloor West Village, you are sure to find an opportunity to explore and pursue a hobby or interest of your choice, for kids as well as adults, whether through camps, classes, or sessions. The streets of Bloor West Village never cease to amaze us no matter the month or season. This July is no exception. From businesses changing their displays to match the season and their new collections, to the streets getting more vibrant and cheerful with the movement of the crowd, Bloor St W is more alive than ever.  When was the last time you walked along the Main Street? 5. Taste & Explore Bloor West Village

Well, well! All the above ideas are great things to do in Bloor West Village this July. On July 28th, join us for our second event of the Summer, “Taste & Explore Bloor West Village”, a Bike or Walk Scavenger Hunt – an unforgettable day of FUN and YUM!⁠ Attendees will be embarking on a bike or walk scavenger hunt through our charming neighbourhood, sampling delicious treats from local eateries and solving clues along the way!

While tickets are sold out for the food sampling portion, you can still join in the fun! Bring out your inner detective, and find hidden treasures in Bloor West Village through our scavenger hunt! Participating in the Scavenger Hunt portion of the event (even without food sampling) provides you a FUN experience AND the chance to win one of our amazing prizes. And guess what! No tickets are required for the scavenger hunt! Simply hop by the BIA tent on the day of the event, grab a map, and embark on the adventure either on foot or by bike.

Don’t have a bike? You are welcome to enjoy FREE Bike Share Toronto bikes to use during the event!
